Kanye West: Having Baby North Makes Him Miss Mom ‘Very Much

While Kim Kardashian and Kanye West love being parents to baby North West, Kanye has had an emotional experience with his new role as a father. Having a baby of his own, and watching Kim be a “natural mother,” makes him think of his late mother, Donda West.Kanye West is having bittersweet feelings about fatherhood. He is so happy to be a dad and adores little baby North, but now being a father also reminds him of the one person he wishes North could meet — his mom.

Fatherhood Makes Kanye West Miss Him Mom ‘Very Much’

Kanye has enjoyed every minute of being a new daddy to North West, but there’s one thing he still longs for —  his mom, Donda. Not only does Kanye wish his mom were around to share in the joy of a new baby, but he also knows she would have been a loving grandmother to his baby girl.

“[The fatherhood experience has] made him miss his mom very much,” an insider told Us Weekly. “He wishes she could see his beautiful baby girl.”

Donda passed away suddenly in 2007 at age 58 as a result of cosmetic surgical procedure complications. She was, at one point, Kanye’s manager, but she was also one of his best friends.

Kanye West Decides To Not Name His Daughter After His Late Mother

Upon the announcement of the name of Kim and Kanye’s baby, it was rumored that the name would somehow pay tribute to Donda, whether it was the baby’s first or middle name. But the name ended up being North, with no middle name at all.

There was no reasoning given for Kanye’s ultimate decision to not use Donda in his baby’s name, but North had always been a favorite pick for the rapper. A source told Us that North was the front-runner “for the past four months.” His reasoning?

“To Kanye, there is nothing higher than North,” the source said.

Kim took a little convincing to warm up to the name North, but a friend of Kim’s told Us, “She fell in love with the nickname Nori.”

Although his baby’s name pays no tribute to his mom, we know Kanye will be sure to adore little North the same way his mom would have!
